The Sky ‘winback’ programme is designed to compel lapsed customers to return to Sky. Our BAU (business as usual) direct mail campaigns continued to perform well. But we wanted to see if more timely and contextually relevant messages could drive incremental results. And the King’s Coronation provided the perfect opportunity to put this to the test. Sky is an entertainment brand. So we set out to reflect that in creative designed to surprise, delight and sell. We set strict budgets and developed a format that allowed an offer to be tailored to each recipient. Then, we went for maximum doormat impact by using simplicity, visual minimalism, and an appropriately small sized format to our absolute advantage. The DM was designed to look like a royal invitation to the King’s Coronation. So the design, font, paper stock and language conveyed an appropriately regal look and feel. We even created a bespoke, Sky Q logo style crest to add another layer of authenticity and stealth to the piece. The pack delivered remarkable results: a notable 105% better than standard BAU mailings.
